FULTON, Mo. – This year's third and final inductee into the 2016 William Woods University Athletics Hall of Fame is none other than former Women's Soccer and Softball player, Colleen Dailey.
Dailey, was a two-sport athlete during her tenure with the Owls, as she played on the women's soccer team during the 2007-08 seasons, while in 2009 and 2010, she was a member of the softball team
"When I received the call from Coach (Tracy) Gastineau about being inducted into the Hall of Fame, I was instantly in shock and thankful," said Dailey. "It's an honor to know I'm being inducted for not only one sport, but two. If it weren't for my family, coaches and teammates, I wouldn't be in this position today. I'm forever grateful to be a part of William Woods," she added.
On the soccer field, Dailey, was a standout goaltender, making 239 saves in just two seasons, while allowing a trifling 64 goals. Her best season was her junior year, when she registered six shutouts in 13 games, which is fifth-best all-time at WWU.
For her efforts that season, she was named an All-American Midwest Conference (AMC) First-Team honoree, an NAIA All-Region 5 First-Team selectee and collected NAIA All-American Honorable Mention team honors.
On the diamond as a catcher, Dailey finished in 2009 with a .360 average at the plate, totaling 33 runs scored, 58 hits, 17 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 43 RBI. Her 17 doubles ranked her third all-time in a single season at WWU.
Dailey also holds the individual game record for most doubles in a game with three, which she accomplished twice. In addition, she holds the individual game record for most runners caught steal with four.
She was named to the NAIA All-Region At-Large Second-Team and the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention squad, for this accomplishments on the softball field.
All of her success and memories while at WWU, Dailey says have impacted her life till this day. "I am most proud of the the person I became at William Woods, in college you really learn some life lessons to shape you as the person you want to be," said Dailey.

"I have many memories that I will cherish, but I would say one of my favorite moments at William Woods was being apart of two teams and having the support from them in another sport," expressed Dailey. "I loved the atmosphere and being on a smaller campus and I feel like I never truly left the Woods."Â
She added, "The thing I miss the most about WWU is being part of a team and being able to put on my jersey and represent William Woods University."
Dailey is one of two WWU dual sport athletes to earn NAIA All-American honors in an Owls jersey. "Each of the awards has always meant something to me but I would definitely say being inducted into the Hall Of Fame tops them all.Â

Collen is a 2011 graduate of William Woods University with a degree in Educational Studies and Management Information Systems. She resides in St. Louis, Missouri, and is currently working for Elite Properties as an office assistant.
