Tracy Gastineau was named the Head Softball coach in the fall of 1997 after serving as a graduate assistant coach for William Woods in 1996-1997. Coach Gastineau is a heavily decorated member of William Woods' athletics, entering her 28th season as the Head Softball coach. She has guided many winning teams through the years, boasting an 813-573 career record, the most wins all-time in William Woods history, the 7th most wins by any active softball coach in the NAIA, and the 9th most by any softball coach in the NAIA.

    Coach Gastineau has accumulated many awards, accolades, and accomplishments throughout her years of leadership over the softball program including NAIA Coach of Character in 2016; and 3 time AMC coach of character in 2010, 2014 and 2016. She has been named AMC coach of the year five times.

    Gastineau’s teams were twice named the NAIA team of character in 2007 and 2009; and have made 15 NAIA National Championship Appearances, along with 4 AMC regular season championships. Since 1998, they have had 23 NAIA and NFCA All-Americans and numerous All Region selections. In AMC awards, Gastineau has coached 147 AMC All-Conference Athletes, 5 AMC Players of the Year, 4 AMC Pitchers of the Year, 5 AMC Newcomers of the Year, and 4 AMC Freshman of the Year.

    Coach Gastineau also makes academics a priority for her athletes including 357 Academic All-AMC Athletes, and 131 NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The softball team has been named an NFCA top 10 scholar team eleven times.Â

    Gastineau graduated from William Woods University in 1993 with a Bachelor's in Accounting and a minor in Legal Studies. She furthered her education through the Woods by receiving a Master's in Education in 1998. During her time as an undergrad, Coach Gastineau participated in both Softball and Women's Basketball for four years. Primarily a 2nd baseman and catcher in softball, she earned All-District 1st Team, hitting .400 and helping lead the Owls to a 51-12 record and a 7th place finish in the national tournament in her senior campaign. As a basketball player, Gastineau also earned All-District 1st Team and holds the 2nd place position on single season three point percentage at William Woods, shooting 48.2% her senior season. Her junior season, Gastineau was a part of a 25-3 team that made a national tournament appearance. She tallied 2 NAIA scholar athlete accolades as well.

    For her hard work and dedication, Coach Tracy Gastineau was inducted into the William Woods University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015, and looks to further the tradition of excellence at the Woods.
In 2025, William Woods finished 30-17 overall and 18-4 in the AMC, placed second in the AMC regular season, made it to the final four of the AMC Tournament and totaled seven All-AMCÂ accolades (three first-team, three second-team and one third-team).
