Justin Stuckey

The 2018-2019 season marks Justin Stuckey's 3rd year at William Woods as Head Men's and Women's tennis coach and his 11th year as a head Coach. Stuckey's teams have won nine conference championships and made four straight national championship appearances. During his career, he has been named ITA Central Region Coach of the year three times and Conference Coach of the year twice.
 
In the 2017-2018 season, Stuckey guided the men to a 16-7 overall record, conference championship, quarterfinal finish at the National championship and Final National ranking of #7.  Stuckey also guided the women to a 18-7 overall record, AMC conference championship, quarterfinal finish at the National championship and Final National ranking of #6. The women's team for the second year in a row was also named an ITA All-Academic Team for having a team GPA of 3.6.
 
During his first season as head coach at William Woods Stuckey and the Owls went onto win the men’s and women’s American Midwest Conference/Heart of America Unaffiliated Group Tournament. The Men’s team started the season unranked and went on to defeat a Division 1 St. Louis University, Division 2 opponent's and two top 10 ranked NAIA programs during the season and also went on to win the first conference championship in school history. The Men's team competed in the NAIA Men’s Tennis National Championship where they advanced all the way to the quarterfinals and finished the season ranked #8 in the country.  The women's team in Stuckeys first year went on to win the conference championship as well and then went on to compete in the National Championships Tournament as the #12 seed where the team went on to upset two top 5 ranked teams before losing in the National Championship Semifinals. The Women went on to finish the year ranked #3 in the final National Rankings.
 
Prior to coming to William Woods, Stuckey spent two seasons at McPherson College. During his time at McPherson he turned around the Men's Program by guiding them to win the schools first Conference Championship in school history as the #23 ranked team in country by beating then #7 Bethany College, which had not lost a conference game in 10 years at that point He also lead the Men's program to a school record high national ranking of #10. Both years as Head Coach the men's program won the Conference Tournament Championship and went on to compete in that National Championship. During Stuckey’s time as the Women's Coach, he guided the women to two straight Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. His Women's Team had a perfect 20-0 record in conference in his two years as Head Coach and were ranked a school record high of #16 in the National Rankings. In his two years at McPherson, 12 players earned all-conference awards and other accolades.
 
Prior to his time at McPherson, Stuckey was the first-ever full-time men's and women's tennis coach at Wittenberg University, a position he took in 2008 at the age of 22 years old making him the youngest Head coach in college tennis at that point. In Stuckey first year he inherited a Men's Team that had a two year record of 3 -30 and turned the team around year as the team  went on to get 15 wins and finished the year with a top 25 regional ranking. Overall duding his time at Wittenberg his men's squad’s record was 85-53 record, and his teams posted a winning season each year in one of the toughest Conferences in division 3 as well as tied the school record for wins in a season with 17 in 2011-2012.  The women's team went 70-55 and established a school record with 19 wins in 2010-11 and was consistently ranked in the top 25 in the Central region.  Stuckey coached 23 All-NCAC Conference athletes during his tenure at WU. While at Wittenberg Stuckey also brought in two nationally ranked recruiting classes in  2010 and 2014, according to tennisrecruiting.net. 
  
Prior to Wittenberg, Stuckey served as a graduate assistant for NCAA Division I Wright State University tennis teams during the 2007-08 school year.  He graduated from Wright State with a master's in education in 2008.

A 2007 graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C., Stuckey was a four time 1st team all conference player while playing  #1 singles and doubles for his team. During his collegiate career he was conference doubles champion twice and singles once.  Stuckey helped the Golden Bulls to four-straight conference championships and in 2004 helped to guide the team to the NCAA Division-II tournament where he played both singles and doubles. He was a team captain for his final three years and voted team MVP in 2006 and 2007 and he holds a career conference record of 61-5 in doubles and 55-11 in singles.   During his Junior, Collegiate and Professional Career he was coached and mentored by James Cuthebertson, Tony Pack, Rachel Fair and Matt Dektas and Garnett Purnell.

He comes from a tennis family where he and his brothers all played college tennis on scholarship and from a junior career that saw him ranked as high as #1 in the American tennis Association in the 16 and under age group.
 
Stuckey is certified by the  Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) United States Tennis Association (USTA) member and ITA member. He reside in Columbia, Missouri.
