QUINCY, Ill. – The no. 22 William Woods University men's tennis team defeated Grand View University 6-1 Saturday afternoon. This win improved the Owls to 10-2 in the season.
The Owls were able to take the doubles point, winning at no. 2 and no. 3 doubles.
In no. 2 doubles,
Nathan Cooke paired up with
Aaron Westerlund defeating Esaias Backlung and James Cole, 6-0.
Jack Campbell and
Vitek Subert earned a 6-1 victory over Lennart Poeppelbuss and Rafael Silva, in no. 3 doubles.
The Owls grabbed five wins at singles, winning at no. 1, no. 3, no. 4, no. 5, and at no. 6.
In no. 1 singles,
Patrick Shelepov took a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Dylan Ramsay.
In no. 3 and no. 4 singles, Westerlund and
Mladen Novovic won their matches without losing a single game, 6-0, 6-0.
In no. 5 singles, Zach Fristbie defeated Silva, 6-4, 6-2. In no. 6 singles,
Jack Campbell took down Poeppelbuss 6-2, 6-2.
The no. 22 Owls will host Missouri Baptist University on Monday, April 5 at 12 p.m.
