ANKENY, Iowa - Alissa Olson (seventh place), Allyson Hollrah (tied for 14th) and Kennedy Dickerson (tied for 16th) placed in the top 20 for William Woods University at the two-round, 38-competitor Viking Classic Monday through Tuesday at Otter Creek Golf Course.

"The women's team played well, and even with only three girls the first day as individuals we had three girls finish inside the top 20," William Woods women's golf coach Aaron Murphy said.

For the fourth straight tournament, Olson guided the Owls, with her seventh-place finish her second-best in that time. Olson recorded WWU's best round both days, signing for a 27-over 169 (83, 86), and her best hole was the 351-yard, par-4 16th in Round 1, which she birdied.

Since Rylie Bales didn't compete in Round 1, William Woods didn't have a team score for the competition. The Owls posted a 78-over 362 as a team in Round 2.

Host Grand View University won the team title with a 58-over 626 (308, 318), and Northern Iowa Area Community College's Meghan DeLong earned the individual title with a 4-over 146 (70, 76).

William Woods is back at it one more time for the 2024 portion of its schedule when the Owls host their second fall tournament, the Railwood Open, next Monday and Tuesday at Railwood Golf Club in Holts Summit. The competition begins at 9 a.m. on both days.
