COLUMBIA, Mo. - Putting together a better Day 2 overall, William Woods University climbed one spot on the team leaderboard, finishing sixth out of eight teams in the Columbia College Cougar Classic Spring Invitational, hosted by Columbia Monday and Tuesday at Columbia Country Club.
The Owls shot a 154-over 730, progressing the most of any team from Round 1 to Round 2: WWU posted an 86-over 374 on Monday and a 356 on Tuesday.
Kennedy Dickerson's 13-over 85 Round 2 score was a nine-stroke improvement over her Round 1 tally, helping The Woods elevate its team placing. Dickerson took 21st with a 35-over 179.
Joining Dickerson in the top half of the 44-golfer leaderboard,
Alissa Olson took 16th with a 175 (88, 87) while notching three birdies, and
Allyson Hollrah 20th with a 178 (92, 86).
The home Cougars took home the team championship with a 655 (336, 319), and Briar Cliff University's Helene Getz Bergmo (80, 79) and Missouri Valley College's Hanna Rieker (82, 77) were co-individual winners with a 159.
William Woods will be back on the course for the Verhille Invitational, hosted by future conference opponent Mount Mercy University, next Monday and Tuesday at Old Kinderhook in Camdenton.
