Johnson, Burich Named Central Dairy Owls Of The Month For October

FULTON, Mo. -- Sophomore Sebastian Burich (Santiago, Chile - Men's Soccer) and senior Lindsey Johnson (Springfield, Mo. - Women's Golf) were announced as the William Woods University/Central Dairy Owl of the Month award winners for October 2012. The award is presented monthly to student-athletes based on achievements on the field and in the classroom.

Burich earns the honor after playing every minute of WWU's six American Midwest Conference matches in October, scoring three goals in seven appearances during the month for the Owls. His overall presence in the attack was key for the squad, helping the Owls return to the American Midwest Conference semifinals for the third consecutive season.

Johnson picked up the nod after earning top five honors in both tournaments during October for WWU. She tied for second in the WWU Fall Invitational with a 154 (74-80; +10) and claimed fourth at the Missouri Valley College Fall Invitational with a 162 (78-84; +18). She finished the fall season ranked 20th in the NAIA in scoring average, with a 76 over four tournaments.

The Owl of the Month award is presented by Central Dairy, based on nominations from the WWU coaching staff. Honorees must be significant contributors for their sport and must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
