Meyer, Storjohann Named Central Dairy Owls Of The Month For November
FULTON, Mo. -- Men's cross country runner Ryan Meyer (Linn, Mo.) and women's basketball player Olivia Storjohann (Eldridge, Iowa) were named William Woods University/Central Dairy Owl of the Month award winners for November 2012. The award is presented monthly to student-athletes based on achievements on the field and in the classroom.
Meyer earns his second student-athlete of the month nod after a pair of outstanding performances in November. After dominating the American Midwest Conference Cross Country Championship and winning AMC Runner of the Year honors by 17 seconds, he led the Owls at the 2012 NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship. Meyer set a new WWU record in the event, earning NAIA All-America honors with his 14th-place finish. The senior bettered his 2011 time on the Fort Vancouver 8K course by 16 seconds, with his mark of 24:56 knocking four seconds off the school record.
Storjohann averaged 9.5 pts per game in six games for the Owls in November, highligted by a 15-point outing in WWU's season opener at Lindenwood University-Belleville. The senior averaged 28.9 minutes in six starts during November and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in a 63-49 win over then #20 Avila University. Her eight boards were the joint high-water mark for the team in November. She also handed out 10 assists during November.
The Owl of the Month award is presented by Central Dairy, based on nominations from the WWU coaching staff. Honorees must be significant contributors for their sport and must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
