Anthony Stockton

Anthony Stockton returns home to William Woods as the head Track and Field coach. Stockton, an NAIA National Champion in the Hammer Throw for the Owls, was announced as the head coach for Spring 2025. 

In the 2025 indoor season, WWU placed 2nd out of 9 teams in the AMC Championships on both the women's and men's side, had 14 women's (four event champions, four second-team and six third-team) and 13 men's (six event champions, two second-team and five third-team) All-AMC performances and two national qualifiers (one women's and one men's).

During the 2025 outdoor season, Woods took 2nd out of 9 teams on the women's side and 3rd out of 8 teams on the men's side in the AMC Championships, tallied 12 women's (one event champion, five second-team and six third-team) and 10 men's (three event champions, four second-team and three third-team) All-AMC showings and four national qualifiers (three women's and one men's).

Prior to his head coach appointment, Coach Stockton served as an associate head coach at Knox College. At Knox, Anthony coached and learned alongside Evander Wells and Mark Nelson, with a focus on recruitment and player development. During his time with Knox College Stockton led numerous men’s and women’s athletes to places in the top 10 record books for the Prairie Fire.  

Anthony served as an assistant coach at NCAA D1 East Tennesse State University. While there Coach Stockton helped the throws squad gain over 100 pts in 4 total conference championships. Anthony coached ETSU greats including Margaet Hayden who broke the Women Hammer Record and Mary Brown to be one of the best female throwers in Bucs History.   

With a passion for coaching and youth development, Stockton privately coached via Onyx Storm Throws. Anthony used this position to develop track and field athletes from multiple states including Tennessee, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Several of these athletes received athletic scholarships from App State, UVA Wise, Carson Newman and other NCAA D1s. Among these are 4 National Qualifiers and 1 National Champion. Â
