Unbeaten Streak Snapped

(HANNIBAL, Mo., Oct. 2)--The William Woods University men's soccer team had its seven-match winning streak snapped at American Midwest Conference rival Hannibal-LaGrange College on Saturday. The Trojans defeated the Owls 1-0.

Felipe Silva scored in the 62nd minute to give the Trojans the only goal of the match. HL-G (7-3-1, 2-1) outshot the Owls 18-7. The Trojans put seven shots on goal in the win.

The Owls put two shots on goal in the match. Junior Byron Garcia (Palmira, Colombia) and freshman Joao Paulo Dutra Parra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) each recorded a shot on goal. Garcia, Dutra Parra and freshman Carlos Ruben Mendoza (Lafayette, La.) all recorded two shots on the afternoon.

Senior Cory Herchenroeder (St. Louis, Mo.) had six saves in goal for the Owls in the loss.

WWU (7-1-1, 1-1) will return to action on October 3. The Owls will travel to Culver-Stockton College for a 3 pm kick-off.
