(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 6)--The William Woods University men's soccer team dropped an American Midwest Conference match to visiting Park University on Wednesday night. The Pirates defeated the Owls 3-1.
Park (7-3-1, 3-0-1) took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Jair Gooden and Matthew Ashman scored in the first half for the Pirates.
The Pirates added its final goal on the night on a penalty kick from Ramone Palmer midway through the second half.
WWU cut into the lead on a goal from Carlos Ruben Mendoza (Lafayette, La.). Mendoza broke loose on the right wing and fired a shot over the Park goalie to keep the Owls in the contest. WWU continued to put shots on the goal, but could not creep any closer.
Park had nine shots on the night. The Pirates put six shots on goal. William Woods fired 13 shots on the evening. WWU put seven shots on goal. Junior

William Woods falls to 7-3-1 on the season and 1-2 in the AMC. They will return to action on October 9. The Owls host AMC rival Harris-Stowe State University at 4 pm on Firley Field.
