Owls Win in Five at Park

Fleming Leads Owls with 15 Kills.
(PARKVILLE, Mo., Nov. 2)--The William Woods University volleyball team defeated American Midwest Conference rival Park University 3-2 Tuesday night in Parkville, Mo. The Owls defeated the Pirates 25-22, 25-23, 24-26, 22-25 and 15-13.

Junior Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Texas) led the Owls with 15 kills. Senior Brianna Rodriguez (Camdenton, Mo.) added 14 kills in the five-set victory. Sophomore Alicia Green (Midlothian, Texas) and freshman Nichole Lolohea (Salt Lake City, Utah) had 12, and 11, kills respectively.

Sophomore Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) recorded a match-high 26 digs for the Owls. Rodriguez had 24 digs in the win.

Freshman Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) and sophomore Emily Nolte (Higginsville, Mo.) recorded 23 and 21 assists for the Owls.

With the win, the Owls complete the two-game sweep of Park University (19-12, 8-8). William Woods improves to 15-19 on the season and 7-8 in the AMC.

The win is also a milestone for head coach Jenny Mueller. The five-set thriller was her 100th career head coaching victory.

The Owls will return to action on November 4. WWU will conclude its regular season schedule at AMC foe Stephens College. First-serve is scheduled for 7 pm in Columbia, Mo.
