(BALDWIN, Kan., Nov. 20)--The 16th-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team defeated Baker University 54-50 Saturday. The Owls improve to 8-0 on the season.

In a defensive battle, Baker took a 20-18 lead over the Owls into halftime. BU shot 25.9% from the field in the opening half. WWU shot 25% from the field in the first 20 minutes of play.

William Woods outscored the Wildcats 36-30 in the second half to earn the victory and keep its unbeaten streak alive.

Senior Rachel Baker (Mexico, Mo.) led the Owls with 19 points. Baker added nine rebounds, six steals and three assists. Junior Sharron Andrews (Oakland/Hayward, Calif.) added 16 points and six rebounds for the Owls.

WWU will return to action on November 30 versus the College of the Ozarks. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 pm.
