COLUMBIA, Mo., Nov. 4)--The William Woods University volleyball team defeated American Midwest Conference rival Stephens College 3-0 Thursday night in Columbia, Mo. The Owls defeated the Stars 25-16, 25-13 and 25-18.
Junior
Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Texas) led the Owls with 10 kills. Fleming added three blocks in the AMC win. Sophomore
Alicia Green (Midlothian, Texas) added eight kills for the Owls.
Senior
Brianna Rodriguez (Camdenton, Mo.) recorded a team-high 14 digs for WWU. Rodriguez added three service aces. Sophomore
Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) chipped in 12 digs and three service aces.
Freshman
Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) led the Owls with 16 assists on the evening. Sophomore
Emily Nolte (Higginsville, Mo.) added 11 assists in the win.
William Woods improves to 16-19 on the season and 8-8 in the AMC. They return to action November 9 in the Quarterfinals of the AMC Postseason Tournament. The Owls are currently tied for fifth with Park University. WWU holds the tie-breaker over the Pirates. The Tournament bracket will be announced this weekend.
