(WALNUT RIDGE, Ark., Jan. 15)--The William Woods University men's basketball team defeated Williams Baptist College 87-72 Saturday afternoon. The Owls improve to 8-11 overall and 2-2 in the American Midwest Conference.

The Owls held a 15-point lead at halftime (51-36). The Owls and Eagles each scored 36 points in the second half.

Logan Decker (Kansas City, Mo.) led the Owls with 24 points. Decker was 9-for-12 from the field and 6-for-8 from beyond the three-point line. Jonathan Nutt (Palmyra, Mo.) added 18 points and seven rebounds in the win. Nutt also dished eight assists for the Owls. Elliott Black (St. Louis, Mo.) also reached double-digits in the win. Black scored 14 points for WWU.

WWU outrebounded WBC 29-26. The Owls shot 60% from the field in the win. The Eagles shot 50% from the field in the loss.

William Woods will return to action on January 20. The Owls will host Park University in an AMC match-up. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm in Anderson Arena.
