Woods Tops Park

Baker Leads Owls With 18 and 11
(FULTON, Mo., Jan. 20)--The 14th-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team defeated Park University Thursday night in Anderson Arena. The Owls defeated the Pirates 64-54 in an American Midwest Conference match-up.

William Woods took a 25-19 lead into halftime. The Owls were led at the break by Jestine Gerber (Jefferson City, Mo.) with 10 points. Gerber was 4-for-8 from the field including 2-for-5 from beyond the three-point line. The Owls shot 40% from the field in the opening half. Park shot 24.2% from the field in the first 20 minutes.

The Owls outscored the Pirates 39-35 in the second half to stay perfect in AMC play. Rachel Baker (Mexico, Mo.) led the Owls with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Baker added four blocked shots and two steals in the win. Gerber finished the night with 16 points.

WWU shot 39.6% from the field in the win. PU (9-6, 1-3) shot 31.4% from the field in the loss. The Owls outrebounded the Pirates 46-37.

William Woods (18-1, 5-0) returns to action on January 22. The Owls travel to Stephens College for another AMC match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 pm in Columbia, Mo.
