(COLUMBIA, Mo., Jan. 22)--The 14th-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team defeated Stephens College Saturday afternoon. The Owls defeated the Stars 75-41 in an American Midwest Conference match-up in Columbia, Mo.
The Owls took a 45-30 lead into halftime. They outscored the Stars 30-21 in the second half to cruise to the victory.
William Woods (19-1, 6-0) was led by
Jill Sutton (Warrenton, Mo.) and
Stephanie Copelin (O'Fallon, Ill.) with 11 points each. Sutton added three rebounds in the victory.
Sarah Eagan (Shelbina, Mo.) and
Daris King (Cairo, Mo.) each added 10 points in the WWU win. Eagan led the Owls with five rebounds.
WWU shot 51.9% from the field in the win. SC (3-14, 0-6) shot 34% from the field in the loss. William Woods outrebounded Stephens 38-29.
The Owls return to action on January 27. WWU will travel to Missouri Baptist University for another AMC match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm in St. Louis, Mo.
