(FULTON, Mo., Jan. 29)--The William Woods University men's basketball team lost to 25th-ranked Columbia College Saturday afternoon. The Cougars defeated the Owls 63-56.
Logan Decker (Kansas City, Mo.) hit a three-point basket with 16 seconds remaining in the first half to give the Owls a 28-27 lead. Decker led the Owls at the break with 13 points. CC shot 33.3% from the field in the opening half. WWU shot 35.7% from the field at intermission.
Columbia (19-3, 6-1) scored the first basket in the second half to take a 29-28 lead. They would hold the lead to the final buzzer. CC outscored the Owls 36-28 en route to the AMC victory.
Decker led the Owls with 18 points. He was 7-for-14 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the three-point line.
Dan Anderson (Jefferson City, Mo.) added 16 points in the loss.
Jonathon Nutt (Palmyra, Mo.) reached double-figures for the Owls. He had 10 points in the loss.
CC shot 35% from the field in the win. WWU (9-13, 3-4) shot 33.3% from the field in the loss. Columbia outrebounded William Woods 47-36.
The Owls return to action on February 3. They travel to McKendree University for another AMC match-up. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm in Lebanon, Ill.
