WWU Drops Two at Tournament

The William Woods University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Hannibal-LaGrange University Tournament.  The Owls lost 3-2 to Baker University and 3-0 to MidAmerica Nazarene University.
 
WWU lost 27-25, 19-25, 27-29, 28-26 and 6-15 in the opener to the Wildcats of Baker University.  Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Texas) led the Owls with 15 kills.  Fleming added two blocks in the loss.  Alicia Green (Midlothian, Texas) and Kristen Bauer (St. Charles, Mo.) each added 12 kills and two blocks for the Owls.  Sarah Wehmeyer tallied 41 assists and 14 digs for William Woods.  Wehmeyer reached the 1000 career assist mark in the loss.
 
Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) recorded 27 digs for William Woods against Baker.  Melanie Bonk (Hampshire, Ill.) led the Owls with six blocks.
 
The Owls dropped the final match of the tournament to MidAmerica Nazarene 24-26, 15-25 and 20-25.  Fleming led the Owls with 10 kills.  Kristen Bauer added six kills in the loss.  Bailey Peterson (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the WWU offense with 23 assists.  Henley tallied 13 digs for the Owls.  Emily Nolte (Higginsville, Mo.) and Abbie O'Mara (St. Peters, Mo.) added 11, and 10, digs respectively.

Following the final match, Green was named to the All-Tournament team.
 
William Woods falls to 11-16 on the season.  They return to action Monday at American Midwest Conference rival Benedictine University-Springfield.  First-serve is scheduled for 7 pm in Springfield, Ill.
