The 23rd-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team opens its 2011-12 schedule tonight.  The Owls host Central Methodist University in Anderson Arena.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6 pm.

William Woods is coming off one its most successful seasons in school history.  The 2010-11 women's basketball team finished the season 30-5 on the year.  The team set a new school record for wins in a season and advanced to its third consecutive NAIA National Tournament.  The Owls earned the programs first victory at theNational Tournament and ended its season with a loss to Westminster College (Utah) in the Sweet 16.
 
Tonight is the season opener for CMU.  The Eagles finished the 2010-11 season 5-25 overall and 3-17 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
 
The Owls and Eagles met once last season. William Woods defeated Central Methodist 61-45 in Fayette, Mo., on November 6.  The Owls lead the all-time series between the two schools 30-7.  William Woods has won the last two meetings.  The last victory for the Eagles came during the 2007-08 season.
 
The Owls will return to action on November 4.  They travel to Atchison, Kan., to take on Benedictine College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
