AMC Tournament Begins for Men Today

The William Woods University men's soccer team will host Williams Baptist College today on Firley Field.  The Owls and Eagles are scheduled for a 1 pm kick-off.  Today is the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament.

The Owls are coming off a 4-1 loss to visiting McKendree University on October 29.  Matt Steiniger gave the Owls a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.  Steiniger scored off an assist from Marcelo Carreiro.  It was the first goal of the season for Steiniger.  McKendree scored four unanswered goals in the second half to secure the victory.  William Woods enters today's AMC quarterfinal match 9-8-1 on the season.
 
Williams Baptist College enters today's match 7-9 on the year.  The Eagles finished the AMC regular season with a 3-4 record.  They are coming off a 2-1 loss to Lyon College on October 31.
 
The Owls and Eagles met earlier this season in Fulton, Mo.  The Owls earned a 3-0 AMC victory.  Carreiro, J.P. Parra and Gentry Coffman all scored a goal in the win.
 
William Woods leads the all-time series between the two schools.  The Owls are 12-0.
 
Today's winner will advance to the semifinals of the AMC postseason tournament.  That match will take place on Tuesday, November 8.
