Armah Double-Double Powers Owls To 71-60 Win

Fulton, Mo. -- Daniel Armah (Accra, Ghana) posted a double-double as he led a balanced William Woods attack as the Owls posted a 71-60 win over Central Methodist University on Wednesday night. The senior had 24 points and 13 rebounds on the night - both game highs - and was one of four WWU players in double figures.

Despite the finish, the game started in uncertain fashion for the Owls, as they found themselves on the wrong end of a 11-4 CMU run to open the game. A defensive stop following a timeout at the 16:43 mark sparked William Woods to a 9-3 run of their own, as they pulled within a one-point margin with just over 13 minutes left in the half.

CMU stretched out the lead again, but William Woods reeled them in, and a three-pointer from Dontre' Jenkins (New Madrid, Mo.) knotted the game at 30-30 just before half.

The Eagles scored the first basket coming out of intermission, but William Woods responded by reeling off a 14-6 run to take a 44-36 lead with just under 14 minutes left. William Woods never looked back though, as they ran out 11-point winners.

WWU moves to 2-1 on the year, while Central Methodist falls to 1-2. Logan Decker (Kansas City, Mo.) joined Armah in double-digits with 12 points, with Jenkins and Andrew Miller (Whangamata, New Zealand) adding 10 each. The Owls are back in action on Friday as they take on Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. as part of the Evangel/BBC Classic. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
