(PARKVILLE, Mo., Feb. 17)--The William Woods University men's basketball team lost a road American Midwest Conference game on Thursday. The Owls lost to 24th-ranked Park University 73-74 in overtime at Parkville, Mo.
The Owls trailed 34-32 heading into halftime. The Owls outscored the Pirates 28-26 to force an overtime period. Park outscored the Owls 14-13 to avoid the upset bid in the extra frame.
Elliott Black (St. Louis, Mo.) scored 18 points in the loss. Black led the Owls with seven rebounds.
Logan Decker (Kansas City, Mo.) also reached double-figures in the loss. Decker added 17 points for WWU.
Andrew Miller (Whangmata, New Zealand) added 15 points in the loss.
Jonathon Nutt (Palmyra, Mo.) scored 13 points for WWU.
Park improves to 18-6 on the season and 10-2 in the AMC. WWU falls to 11-16 on the year and 5-7 in league play.
The Owls return to action on February 24. They host AMC rival Missouri Baptist University on the 24th. The Owls and Spartans tip-off at 7:30 pm in Anderson Arena.
