(PARKVILLE, Mo., Feb. 17)--The 22nd-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team collected a road American Midwest Conference victory Thursday. The Owls defeated Park University 70-59 in Parkville, Mo.
The Owls took a 31-26 lead into halftime. The Owls never trailed in the second half and outscored the Pirates 39-33 in the second half to earn the AMC road victory.
Rachel Baker (Mexico, Mo.) led the Owls with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Miranda Loesch (Lohman, Mo.) also recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Owls received 13 points each from
Sharron Andrews (Oakland/Hayward, Calif.) and
Jill Sutton (Warrenton, Mo.).
The Owls outrebounded the Pirates 40-39.
Park falls to 14-10 on the season and 6-7 in the AMC. WWU improves to 25-2 on the year and 12-1 in league play.
William Woods will return to action on Saturday. The Owls host AMC rival Stephens College at 2 pm in Anderson Arena.
