Volleyball Sweeps Harris-Stowe

The William Woods University volleyball team swept visiting Harris-Stowe State University Monday night in Anderson Arena.  The Owls won the American Midwest Conference match 3-0.  WWU improves to 7-8 on the season and 3-1 in the AMC.  Harris-Stowe falls to 0-10 on the year and 0-4 in league play.  Tonight was the home opener for the Owls.
                    
The Owls took care of the Hornets by scores of 25-5, 25-4 and 25-11.  With the win, William Woods sweeps the two-match AMC series with Harris-Stowe.
 
Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Texas) led the Owls with eight kills.  Kristen Bauer (Saint Charles, Mo.) added five kills for the Owls in the win.  Morgan Bauer (Bloomer, Wis.), Bailey Peterson (Cedarburg, Wis.), Alicia Green (Midlothian, Texas) and Kristen Hipkins (Memphis, Tenn.) all had four kills for the Owls.  Green also had a team-high two blocks.
 
Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) led the WWU offense with a match-high 32 assists.  Abbie O'Mara (Saint Peters, Mo.) recorded nine digs for the Owls.  Peterson and Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) each had seven digs for William Woods.  Emily Nolte (Higginsville, Mo.) recorded a team-high four service aces.  The Owls had 13 aces on the night.
 
William Woods will return to action September 21.  The Owls host AMC rival Missouri Baptist University at 7 pm in Anderson Arena.
