Volleyball Travels to Park

The William Woods University volleyball team travels to American Midwest Conference rival Park University tonight.  First-serve is scheduled for 7 pm in Parkville, Mo.  William Woods enters tonight's match 7-9 on the season and 3-2 in the AMC.  Park enters tonight's match-up 10-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

The Owls are coming off a loss to Missouri Baptist University on September 21.  The 20th-ranked Spartans defeated the Owls 25-23, 25-22 and 25-15 in a tightly contested AMC match.  Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Texas) led the Owls with five kills.  Alicia Green (Midlothian, Texas) and Kristen Bauer (St. Charles, Mo.) each had four kills in the loss.  Green added two blocks for William Woods.  Bailey Peterson (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the WWU offense with 17 assists on the night.
 
Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) led the Owls with 21 digs in the loss to Missouri Baptist.  She eclipsed the 1000 career dig mark in the loss.  She is now 48 digs away from moving into fifth place all-time in the WWU record book.
 
Park is coming off a victory over Stephens College on September 24.  The Pirates defeated the Stars 25-16, 26-16 and 25-14.  The Pirates have won three of its last four matches.
 
The Owls won both meetings between the two schools last season.  WWU defeated the Pirates 3-0 in Fulton, Mo., on September 22.  The Owls won a five-set thriller in Parkville, Mo., on November 2.  William Woods leads the all-time series between the two teams 38-11.  The Owls have won the last eight meetings in the rivalry.  The last victory for the Pirates came during the 2000 season.
 
After tonight, William Woods returns to action September 29.  The Owls play Central Methodist University and Westminster College in a tri-match.  WWU plays at 6 pm and 8 pm on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, Mo.
