Volleyball Opens AMC Play With Win

The William Woods University volleyball team opened American Midwest Conference play Wednesday night. The Owls defeated Stephens College 3-0 in Columbia, Mo.
 
WWU defeated the Stars (0-2, 0-1) 25-19, 25-17 and 25-15. William Woods improves to 3-6 on the season and 1-0 in the AMC.
 
Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) led the Owls with a team-high 24 digs. Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) led the WWU offense with 32 assists in the win.
 
Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Texas) and Alicia Green (Midlothian, Texas) each recorded 10 kills in the AMC victory. Morgan Bauer (Bloomer, Wis.) added three blocks for the Owls.

William Woods will return to action September 9 and 10. They will participate in the Evangel University tournament in Springfield, Mo. The Owls open play with Tabor College on Friday. They play MidAmerica Christian College and Evangel University on Saturday.
