Hat Trick For Parra in Win

J.P. Parra
The William Woods University men's soccer team defeated visiting Culver-Stockton College Thursday night.  The Owls defeated the Wildcats 4-0 and improved to 3-1 on the season.

WWU scored quickly in the opening half. Luca Stroeter (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored on an assist from Marcelo Carreiro (Curtiba, Brazil) one minute and 45 seconds into the match. It was Stroeter's third goal of the season. Carreiro now has four assists for the Owls.

It turned into the J.P. Parra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) show after that. Parra, this week's American Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week, scored two goals in the 29th minute, and added another in the 86th to give the Owls the 4-0 victory. Joel De Leon (Simi Valley, Cali.) recorded his first assist of the year on Parra's second goal. Parra now has nine goals on the season. He recorded a total of nine goals during the 2010 season.

The Owls outshot the Wildcats 31 to three on the night. Igor Dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) did not receive a shot on goal in the first half of play. Tyler Subke (Washington, Mo.) recorded one save in the second half. The two combined on the Owls second shutout of the season.

Culver-Stockton College (0-3) managed only three shots on the night.

The Owls return to action September 10. They travel to Iowa Wesleyan College.
