FAYETTE, Mo. -- Despite outshooting the Lady Eagles .438 to .325 on the night, the no. 23 William Woods University women's basketball team fell by a 61-60 margin to Central Methodist University on the evening.
Stephanie Copelin (O'Fallon, Ill.) led the Owls with 15 points on the evening, with
Katie Scherder (Bowling Green, Mo.) adding 14 and
Julia Wells (Springfield, Mo.) chipping in 13.
William Woods led 28-23 at halftime, but Central Methodist was able to find its shooting range in the second half and battle back to get the win. Towanda Sutton recorded a double-double for CMU with 11 points and 10 rebounds on the night.
The Owls fall to 4-1 on the year and will return to Anderson Arena after Thanksgiving break. WWU is set to host NAIA Division II College of the Ozarks on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The game, presented by Columbia Orthopaedic Group, is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
