FULTON, Mo. -- Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) picked up her second consecutive double-double with 45 assists and 12 digs, adding four service aces as the Owls posted a 3-1 (25-12, 25-14, 22-25,25-14) win over Lindenwood University-Belleville.
Emily Becker (Belleville, Ill.) added the second double-double of the night for WWU with 14 digs and 15 kills.
The Owls jumped out to an early 10-3 lead in the first set, powering right through the first timeout from Lindenwood-Belleville at 6-2, eventually forcing the Lynx to call a second timeout with WWU up 14-4.
WWU withstood a 5-2 run out of the timeout, eventually pulling away for the set win.
Lindenwood-Belleville threatened early in the second set, but the Owls shut the run down with four straight aces from Wehmeyer to take a commanding 18-11 lead en route to the 25-14 win.
The Lynx were able to come back and snag set three from WWU, but the Owls closed out the night with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.
As a team, the Owls posted a solid .230 hitting percentage, with
Emma Aschenbrenner (Broomfield, Colo.) leading the way with a stout .619 mark. Becker's mark of .318 was second best, with
Kristen Bauer (St. Charles, Mo.) rounding out the solid effort with a .285 success rate on the evening.
William Woods is back on the court tomorrow night, taking on Washington University in St. Louis in a 7 p.m. match.
