SEWARD, Neb. -- Ryan Mann (Florissant, Mo.) struck for an opportunistic goal in the 88th minute for the William Woods University men's soccer team, but the Owls weren't able to complete the comeback, falling 1-2 to Concordia on Saturday night.
The Owls found themselves down 0-1 in the 21st minute, as Sean Doran curled a free kick over the WWU wall, eluding the reach of freshman goalkeeper
Dillon Snyder (Boise, Idaho) and clattering his shot off the back post and in.
Concordia doubled its lead in the 34th minute, as Gideon Soenkson collected a pass from Aaron Skipworth and fired a shot from just outside the penalty area.
William Woods stepped up the pressure, peppering the Bulldogs with 10 shots in the second half. It would pay off in the waning moments of the match, as the Owls were able to cut the deficit in half, but the squad wasn't able to chase down an equalizer.
Snyder recorded a solid seven saves in the losing effort for the Owls.
WWU falls to 0-2 on the season and close the road trip on Sunday at York College. Kickoff for the game is set for 1:30 p.m.
