Nolte Leads Solid Defensive Performance As Owls Fall At Baker

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -- The William Woods University volleyball team fell to Baker University by a 1-3 (18-25, 25-21, 11-25, 17-25) scoreline on Thursday night. The Owls saw a solid defensive performance across the board on the night, as four players recorded 10 or more digs on the night. Emily Nolte (Higginsville, Mo.) led the team with 18 digs on the night, with Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) recording her fourth double-double of the year with 29 assists and 10 digs.

Defense kept the match close in the first two sets, with the Owls taking the second by a four-point margin, but a 7-0 run from Baker to open the third set took WWU a bit by surprise.

William Woods battled back in the fourth set to keep the margin close, but despite outstanding defense the Owls weren't able to force a deciding fifth set.
