BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -- Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) fell one assist short of her career high with 53 assists but picked up a double-double as the William Woods University volleyball team battled Ottawa to a 2-3 (25-23, 15-25, 25-23, 21-25, 11-15) loss in the final day of action at the Baker University Invitational. The senior added 13 digs, with
Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) leading the team with 28 digs in the early match.
As a team, the Owls hit .191 against the Lady Braves, with
Melanie Bonk (Hampshire, Ill.) recording 8.5 (four solo blocks, nine block assists) total blocks and a hitting percentage of .350.
Emma Aschenbrenner (Broomfield, Colo.) added five total blocks (10 block assists) and a team-high .400 hitting percentage.
In the final match of the tournament, the Owls dropped a 0-3 (9-25, 11-25, 19-25) result to Benedictine College.
WWU returns to Anderson Arena on Tuesday night, hosting Quincy University. First serve in the match is set for 7 p.m., and the match marks Patriots' Night. Prior to the match, the Owls will recognize local first responders, national guard and active military personnel as well as their families.
