WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Jonathon Nutt scored 10 points and collected four rebounds to break William Woods school record for career rebounds, but a pair of late three-pointers handed the Owls a 74-69 loss to Williams Baptist.
Williams Baptist (16-9, 7-5 AMC) hit a trio of trifectas in the final 1:54 of the game to erase an eight-point William Woods (12-14, 8-5 AMC) lead. The Owls had a chance to retake the lead but WBC would force a turnover with 18 seconds remaining.
WWU would foul the conference's leading scorer, Kyle Harvey, putting him at the line for two shots. Harvey sank a both free throws giving Williams Baptist a three-point lead with 16 seconds left on the clock.
The Owls had another chance to tie the game, but never got a shot off as the Eagles forced another WWU turnover sealing the victory.
William Woods shot 46.0 percent for the game, but Williams Baptist had the hotter stroke on this night as they collected a 48.3 shooting percentage, including a 53.3 shooting percentage from downtown on 8-of-15 shooting.
D.J. Hoskins was just one-point off his career-high by scoring 21 points.
Seth Thomas collected 16 points and
Jonathon Nutt tallied 10 points.
Nutt surpassed
Adam Otto's career mark of 361 rebounds with his third rebound of the night. Nutt now has 363 career rebounds and has one year remaining in his Owls career.
William Woods will return to Anderson Arena on Thursday as they host Park University for a Valentine's Day contest. Tip-off will be approximately at 7:30 p.m.
