Becker's 11 Kills Lifts The Owls To Its First AMC Victory

Becker collected her seventh double-digit kill game on the year.

FULTON, Mo. -- Emily Becker's 11-kill performance lifted the William Woods University volleyball team over Benedictine University at Springfield in straight sets on Tuesday night.

The Owls (3-7) collected its first AMC win on the season, defeating Benedictine University at Springfield (0-7) 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-11). Becker hit an amazing .533 in the match, as she collected 11 kills in 15 attempts. It was the seventh game this season that the Belleville, Ill., native has posted double-digit kills.

William Woods was dominant on the night, as they were in firm commanding of each set. As the defense allowed the Bulldogs to hit just .062 on the night.

 The Owls allowed BenU-Springfield to hit just .080 during the first set, as they hit .542 for the first set to cruise to the 25-11. Becker collected eight of her kills in the opening set as she hit .889 in the frame.

WWU posted another high attack percentage in the second set, as they hit .520 for frame. Kristen Bauer tallied five of her nine kills on the night in the set, as the Owls won 25-16.

The Owl defense was in full force in the deciding set, as they held BenU-Springfield to in a negative attack percentage at -0.80. WWU needed the strong defensive effort, as they offense managed a 0.91 attack percentage for the final set, winning 25-11.

Abbie O'Mara led the Owls with 21 digs on the night. As a team, WWU collected 38 digs on the night.

Freshman setter Sara Stevenson handed out 28 assists, to go along with four service aces on the night.

William Woods will be back in action on Friday as they participate in the Ashford University Invitational. The Owls will take on national ranked Viterbo University in the tournament's first match, which is set for 3 p.m.
