Box Score FAYETTE, Mo.-- The William Woods men's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss on the road at the hands of Central Methodist University on Tuesday night.
It was a defensive battle in the first half between the two teams', as there were a total of nine shots, five of which came from William Woods. The game remained scoreless until the 22
nd minute, when Mykhael Bain broke the tie with his third goal on the season and giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead going into the half.
In the second half, both defenses continued to stay strong with again a low amount of scoring chances, as CMU had a shot advantage of 8-4 in the final 45:00 minutes. WWU had some offensive chances, but couldn't tie up the score, as the team fell by one goal.
Joao Paulo Parra had five of the teams' nine shots in the game and his two shots landing on goal were the only shots the team had on goal for the game. Senior
Marcelo Carreiro added two shots, while
Jesse Jordan and
Luca Stroeter totaled one shot a piece.
The Eagles had 12 shots in the game, with Bain and Daniel Vieira leading the way with three shots each. Carlos Ribera earned the shutout victory for Central Methodist, making two saves.
The Owls record now stands at 4-4 and will be back in front of the home crowd on Saturday September 28
th as the team takes on American Midwest Conference foe Benedictine-Springfield. Kick-off will start at 3:00 p.m.
