FAYETTE, Mo.—The William Woods University volleyball team picked up wins 15 and 16 on the season at the Central Methodist University tri-match on Wednesday night, as the Owls defeated Bacone College in four sets (25-17, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16) and host CMU in four sets (20-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-22) as well.
William Woods University 3 Bacone College 1After splitting the first two sets against Bacone College (6-13; 1-5 Red River Athletic Conference), the Owls (16-11; 5-2 AMC) were able to take the final two sets 25-20 and 25-16, to win game one of the CMU tri-match.
The Owls totaled 54 kills in the match and were led by senior
Kristen Bauer totaling 16, while also owning an impressive attack percentage of .481. Freshman
Abbi McKnelly added 15 kills and eight digs, while junior
Emily Becker contributed 10.

th double-double on the year, as she totaled 43 assists and 15 digs, while senior
Abbie O'Mara became the third Owl in program history to have at least 2,000 career-digs, as she led WWU on the defensive side of the net, having 23.
William Woods University 3 Central Methodist 1In game two, Central Methodist (9-16; 1-5 Heart of America Athletic Conference), gained the early advantage, as they won the first set 25-20. That momentum, however, was quickly taken away by William Woods, as the Owls evened the game up at 1-1, after winning the second set 25-21.
WWU made quick work in the third set against the Eagles, winning 25-16 and the team went on to win the fourth set 25-22 and take the match in four sets.
On the offensive side of the net, the team totaled 60 kills, which is the third most in program history in a four set match and were led by Becker having a match-high 16 kills and an attack percentage of .452. For the second consecutive match, McKnelly had 15 kills and earned an attack percentage of .407.
As a team, the Owls totaled 58 assists, which is the fourth most in a four set match in program history. Engelbrecht got her 20
th double-double on the season, having 51 assists, which is the third most in a four set match and she also added 12 digs.
Baily Peterson totaled a career-high 15 digs on the night, while O'Mara led the team with a match-high 29 digs.
The Owls will look to pick up two more wins on Friday night, when the team travels to Elgin, Illinois, for a tri-match against Clarke College beginning at 3:30 p.m. and will close out with Judson University at 7:30 p.m.
