Men's Basketball Looks For Its First Victories Of The 2014-15 Season At The Columbia College Classic

Mulvihill looks to help guide the Owls at the Columbia College Classic
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team will look for its first victories of the season, as the team competes in the Columbia College Classict, this Friday and Saturday evenings in Columbia, Missouri.
 
The Owls (0-1) are coming off a season opening loss to Missouri Valley College in a back and forth game, despite shooting 44 percent from the field, going 23-of-53 from the floor.
 
WWU was lead by Alec Mulvihill, as the sophomore transfer, collected 15 points on the night. The Collierville, Tennessee native, went 6-of-11 from the field and shot 50 percent from behind the arc, in his first game as an Owl.  Senior, Nate Bitner added 14 points and six rebounds, as DJ Johnson contributed with ten points and six rebounds.
 
In the Owls first game of the Classic, the team will take on a familiar foe, Graceland University. Tip-off is set for 4:00pm.
 
In the previous meeting between the Owls and Hornets, Graceland stunned WWU in a last minute buzzer shot, with William Woods falling 88-86.
 
Currently, the Hornets are (0-1) on the season, as GU dropped its season opener 88-79 to AIB College of Business. Graceland was lead by sophomore Carl Martin, who had 15 points on the night. Following Martin, was Austin Danner who tallied 14 points, while Isaiah Miller added with 12 points.
 
Saturday William Woods will face Concordia Seminary University for a 4:00p.m. tip-off, wrapping up the Columbia College Classic for the Owls.
 
In the Preachers last outing, the team fell to Missouri Valley Baptist after having a 36-26 lead at the half. Missouri Baptist had its hands full, as the Preachers were red-hot, shooting a 44 percent from the field and hitting 11-of-31 shots from the arc.
 
The Owls look to come out of the Classic with the first two victories of the 2014-15 season.
