HANNIBAL, Mo.—The William Woods University men's soccer team earned the No. 5 seed in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament and is set to play Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
This will be the second time these two teams have met this year, as the Owls (11-5-2; 6-3-1 AMC) fell to the Trojans on October 16
th 1-2.
Sebastian Burich accounted for the only goal for William Woods that game, totaling a team-high four shot attempts.
Hannibal-LaGrange (10-7; 7-3 AMC) received the No. 4-seed in the AMC playoffs, after winning their final two regular season games of the year. Park University (11-3-1; 7-2-1 AMC) locked up the third seed, where they are set to host No. 6-seed Lyon College (8-6-1; 6-4 AMC). Williams Baptist (6-7-1; 4-6 AMC), with the seventh seed, meanwhile, travels to Columbia College (9-5-2; 7-2-1 AMC) with the second seed. All games are set to play Saturday afternoon.
Lindenwood University-Belleville (14-1-1; 9-0-1 AMC) earned the No. 1-seed and awaits the lowest remaining seed in the AMC Semifinals.
William Woods has found much success within the 2014 season, with ranking second in the NAIA in total shutouts (11). Individually,
Conor Cable still ranks 12
th in the NAIA in goals against per game (.730).Â
The Owls offense is led by
Alex Severino and
Jacob Hawes, with the two totaling six goals apiece on the season.
Paulo Conelian has also been a key asset for William Woods, as he has eight assists on the year.
In net, William Woods is led by Cable, who has 72 saves in 1475:07 minutes of play.
The Trojans offensive efforts are led by Manuel Saez who has totaled 10 goals and seven assists on the season. In net, Jorge Bravo Gonzalez has played a total of 1285:36 minutes for Hannibal-LaGrange and has 52 saves.
