Box Score CANTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team picked up its second win of the season on Tuesday, with an impressive 3-0 shutout victory on the road against Culver-Stockton College.
The Owls (2-0-1), who were looking for momentum after coming off a 1-1 (2OT) tie against Avila University Sunday afternoon, accomplished just that by outshooting the Wildcats (1-1-0) 18-14 on the night and not letting them find the back of the net.
The scoring got started at the 11:20 mark, when
Anthony Moscatello received a pass from teammate,
Luca Stroeter giving WWU the early 1-0 lead.
Shortly after, midfielder
Alex Severino collected his second goal of the season, at the 13:37 minute mark, extending the Owls lead to 2-0.
William Woods' offense continued to dominate in the first half, as
Paulo Conelian picked up his second assist on the night, and fourth on the season (team-high), as he connected with
Jesse Jordan giving the Owls a 3-0 advantage, heading into halftime.
Despite the effort by the Wildcats in the second half, the Owls defense and goaltending remained stout and they were able to go on for the three goal win.
Freshman goalkeeper,
Conor Cable recorded his first career shutout and win for the Owls. He tallied six saves on the afternoon, giving him seven on the season.
The Owls look to grab another win in its home opener Thursday, as they host Ottawa University. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
