Men's Soccer Earns Its Fifth Shutout On The Season Against Williams Baptist

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark.—The William Woods University men's soccer team picked up its seventh win on the season, as the Owls defeated Williams Baptist College 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls (7-1-1; 2-1 AMC), scored both of its goals in the first half, with the first coming at the 34:59 mark, as Anthony Moscatello scored his fourth goal on the year, off an assist from Jacob Hawes, to give WWU a 1-0 lead.

Then, at the 40:49 mark, freshman Julian Wells, a Temecula, California, native, scored his first collegiate goal, on an assist from senior Paulo Conelian, giving the Sao Paulo, Brazil, native, eight on the year and the Owls a 2-0 lead heading into the half.

WWU outshot Williams Baptist (4-3-1; 2-2 AMC), 9-3 in the first half, with Hawes and Alex Severino each contributing two, while Sebastian Burich, Jesse Jordan, Conelian, Moscatello and Wells added one apiece.

It was more of a defensive battle in the second half, as both teams' were limited to four shots each, but the Owls defense and freshman goaltender Conor Cable kept the shutout intact, as WWU held on for the two goal win.

The Owls totaled 13 shots in the game, with Severino having a game-high four, while Hawes, Wells and Moscatello earned two and Jordan, Conelian and Burich had one shot.
Cable, meanwhile, made two saves on the day and helped the Owls earn its fifth clean sheet on the season.

WWU will return to action at home on Tuesday September 30th, as the Owls welcome Missouri Baptist University to Firley Field. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
