Men's Basketball Looks For An Important Win Against Harris-Stowe

Dickey looks to build off his 16 point game against LU on Tuesday night
FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team will look to end its four-game skid and pick up an important American Midwest Conference victory on Tuesday night, as Harris-Stowe State University pays a visit to Anderson Arena. Tip-off is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
 
The Owls (4-10; 1-5 AMC) suffered a 69-66 hard fought battle against Lindenwood University-Belleville on Saturday evening. Despite the team having three players scoring in double-digits, the Owls didn't have an answer for LU guard, Noel Allen, who collected  a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds.
 
WWU ended the match-up shooting 43 percent from the floor, a hot 46 percent from beyond the arc and went 9-of-10 from the free throw line, which is the team's best performance on the season.
 
Ryan Hill, the St. Louis, Missouri native, led the way for the Owls going 6-of-10 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe, giving him 18 points on the night. Darrien Dickey, added 16 points, shooting 63 percent from the floor and making 2-of-2 from the three-point line. Nate Bitner, was the third Owl to score in double digits, who recorded 11 points on the night and collected all three of his three pointers in the second half.
 
The loss against the Lynx's was the team's fifth AMC loss on the season and pushing them in a three-way tie in conference standings at 1-5. Among, the three teams at 1-5 is Harris-Stowe State University.
 
The Hornets are currently 2-10 on the season and have dropped its last three AMC match-ups in the past four games, in its most recent outing, HSSU fell to Missouri Baptist University 84-76, last Saturday night.
 
Trevor Roberts is pacing the Hornets offensively on the season, as he averages 15.5 points per game on shooting 48 percent from the field. Another key impact for HSSU is Davell Lloyd, who is averaging 14 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while Jalen Fletcher leads the team on the boards with 47 on the year and chipping in 9 points per game.
 
The Owls will look for its offense to come out of the gate strong against a Hornets defense that has allowed opponents to score 78 points a game and letting teams hit 48 percent of its shots from the field.
