FULTON, Mo.—The William Woods University women's soccer team couldn't have closed out the 2015 regular season any better on Wednesday afternoon, as the Owls offense exploded for 10 goals and went on for the shutout victory over Central Baptist College.
The 10 goals are the highest since the 2008 season, when the Owls posted 13 and 10 goals in the same year against Harris-Stowe State.
This afternoon, WWU (10-6-2; 8-3-1 AMC), dominated all afternoon, as they outshot the Lady Mustangs (1-14-1; 1-8-1 AMC), 39-1. Offensively,
Jordan McNamara recorded her second consecutive hat-trick, while Halle Schoreder was dominant up front as well, having a hat-trick of her own and added three assists.
The scoring got started early and often for the Owls, as just .49 seconds in, off a corner kick from
Renee Meyer, the ball was placed perfectly onto the head of McNamara, who tied her career-high with her 14
th goal on the year, to make it a 1-0 game.
Just .18 seconds later, McNamara lifted the ball ahead for
Elyssa Cappaert, who got behind the Lady Mustangs defense and netted her second goal on the year, to put the scoreboard at 2-0.
Then, at the 2:21 mark,
Mackenzie Cork passed the ball over to Cappaert and she pushed it up ahead for Schroeder, who was able to fend off a defender and score her sixth on the season, making it a 3-0 outing.
The scoring frenzy continued in the 11
th minute, as Schroeder again found the back of the net, off an assist from Meyer, to extend the teams' lead out to 4-0. In the 13
th minute, it was Meyer this time around finding the back of the net, as Schroeder crossed ball into the 18 yard box and found Meyer just outside it.
The O'Fallon, Missouri, native, blasted her shot into the top right corner, just inside the far post, putting her in the goal column and WWU ahead 5-0.
Just under a minute again, McNamara was able to score her second of the game and set a new career-high with 15 goals, off an assist from Schroeder, which made it a 6-0 score in favor of the Owls. The team would go on to add its seventh goal of the half in the 42
nd minute, as Cork tallied another assist, as her pass found
Shelby Wiebe and her second on the season, to put WWU ahead 7-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Owls totaled 19 shots, but Lady Mustangs goalie, Kalynn Simpson, continued to fight in net, as she made nine saves in the frame.
The team made it 8-0 in the 78
th minute, as
Rochelle Garcia split the defense with her pass up inside the box, which allowed Schroeder to race in, dribble the ball around Simpson and score her third in the game and 9
th on the season.
In the 84
th minute, Schoreder was joined by McNamara with a hat-trick of her own, as
Kailyn Graham passed the ball up for Schroeder, who quickly gave it to McNamara inside the box and she tipped her shot over the goalie and the ball found its way into the back of the net, pushing it to a 9-0 score.
The Owls would go on to add another goal in the 87
th minute, as Meyer netted her second of the game, off an assist from
Annie Graber, to make it a 10-0 final.

With the win, the Owls won its seventh consecutive game and finish regular season play with 25 points and eight conference wins, which ties the program record from last season.
Currently, the 25 points in the AMC, put WWU in a tie with for third place and they will enter AMC Tournament play as one of the hottest teams' in the conference.
The AMC Tournament is set to start with the Quarterfinals on November 6
th and the Owls will likely be one of the host schools, but that is still TBD.
