(RV) Men's Basketball Remains Perfect in AMC Play, With 88-30 Victory Over STLCOP

FULTON, Mo. – The (RV) William Woods University men's basketball team brought the 2015 year to an end on a high note, as the Owls remain unbeaten in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play, cruising past St. Louis College of Pharmacy 88-30.
 
The Owls (10-4; 6-0 AMC), captured its tenth win on the season in dominating fashion, as the team saw five players finish in double figures, while WWU look control of the contest early in the first half and never looked back.
 
WWU soared out to a 22-0 lead, capped off by a Darrien Dickey basket, holding the Eutectics scoreless for more than half of the first 20:00 minutes of play.
 
STLCOP, Varun Chakravarthy got the Eutectics on the board with a three pointer at the 9:55 mark, making the score 22-3 in the Owls favor. However, WWU responded by going on an impressive 17-0 run, bolting them out to a 39-3 lead. 
 
Then with just .04 seconds left on the clock till half, the Owls had time for one last shot, as TaiRhe Turner nailed a three pointer at the top of the key, giving WWU the commanding 40-9 advantage heading into the locker room.
 
William Woods shot a hot 59.5 percent from the floor and went 4-of-11 from beyond the arc in the first frame, as DJ Johnson led the team with 10 points and eight rebounds. Meanwhile, STLCOP, had a hard time finding its offensive rhythm, shooting just 10.7 percent from the field and 2-of-17 from the three point line.
 
Coming out of half time, STLCOP put some pressure on WWU and both teams went point for point but the first five minutes, however, a Jarett Boss two point bucket would ignite a 8-0 run and it was all WWU for the rest of the second half, as the team was able to maintain its double digit lead .
 
Then with 1:28 left in the game, the Owls would extend its lead out to the largest of the day at 59, after a Keith Jackson's basket off a STLCOP turnover, giving WWU the 86-27 advantage. The Owls would then go on and secure the 88-30 win over the Eutectics, for their third straight victory and sixth consecutive win inside Anderson Arena.
 
William Woods ended the day, shooting a blistering 60.3 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from the three point line, while holding the Eutectics shooting to just 21.3 percent from the floor. WWU was able to control every category of the game, including turning STLCOP 19 turnovers into 27 points, out rebounding the Eutectics 42-21 and collecting 53 points off the bench. 
 
Jackson, paced the way for the Owls with 13 points, on 6-of-8 shooting, while Turner had 12 points, going a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. Miguel Hudson, Klayton Kuschel and Johnson, each added 10 points a piece, while Kuschel also grabbed eight rebounds on the day.
 
The Owls return back on the court on Saturday, as the team will pay Park University a visit, looking to stay perfect in AMC play. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
