Women's Basketball Looks For Its Third Win In A Row Against St. Louis College Of Pharmacy

After totaling 21 points against HSSU, French upped her season average to 11.5 ppg.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The (RV) William Woods University women's basketball team will look for its third win in a row on Thursday, as the team takes on St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Tipoff will start at 5:30 p.m.

The Owls (18-7; 14-6 AMC), are coming off a nail biting 76-70 victory over Harris-Stowe State University on Tuesday night. The team shot 40.3 percent from the floor and were led senior Blake French, as the St. Charles, Missouri, native, tied her career-high with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting.

Marissa Webb played a large role off the bench, as the Poplar Bluff, Missouri, native, scored a career-high 17 points on 6-of-16 shooting and totaled a game-high eight boards. Nia Lateju, meanwhile, scored 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting and added six rebounds.

Julia Wells totaled seven points and six rebounds, Dennisha Rice added six points, while Kelsey Scherder and Destani Stensrud added five points each.

On the season, the Owls are scoring 71.1 points per game, while shooting 41.7 percent from the floor and are outrebounding its opponents, 986-828. Defensively, the team is limiting its opponents to 60.7 points and a field goal percentage of 38.6 percent.

In 24 games, Lateju is leading the offense, averaging a team-high 12.2 points, while shooting 45.4 percent from the floor and has grabbed down 138 rebounds and totaled 11 blocks.

French, was able to up her season average to 11.5 points and is continuing to shoot well from the floor, as the senior holds a team-high field goal percentage of 51.9 percent. She is also leading the team in free throw percentage (81.1) and steals (41).

Kennedy Volkart, a sophomore, is averaging 9.7 points per game, while leading the team in rebounds (151) and blocked shots (24). Stensrud and Webb are putting up 7.4 points per game, while Rice is averaging 6.3 points.

St. Louis College of Pharmacy (2-19; 2-18 AMC), dropped its third consecutive game on Tuesday night, as they fell to Missouri Baptist University, 79-47.

The Eutectics shot 34.0 percent from the field and were led by Emi Santhuff netting a team-high 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Lauren Roethemeyer nearly missed a double-double, having nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

On the year, STLCOP is scoring 41.0 points per game and are led by Santhuff averaging 12.7 points, while shooting 39.3 percent from the floor and 89.3 percent from the free throw line. Jordyn Norde is second on the team in scoring, posting 9.2 points, but does lead the team with 44 assists.
