Men's Basketball Searches For Big AMC Road Victory Against No. 4 Ranked Freed-Hardeman University

Johnson looks to continue to lead the way for the Owls, netting 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game
HENDERSON, Tenn. – The William Woods University men's basketball team will look to pull a huge upset on Saturday afternoon, as the Owls will pay a visit to No. 4 ranked Freed Hardeman-University. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
 
The Owls(9-14; 6-9 AMC) are coming off a 61-57 victory last night, picking up a key American Midwest Conference (AMC) win over Lyon College. The team had a hot second half shooting, as the Owls outscored the Scots 38-27 in the final frame, shooting a season-high 63.6 percent from the field and a blistering 57 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Offensively, WWU closed the game shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 36 percent from the three point line, as three players ended the night in double figures to lead the team past the Scots.
 
Nate Bitner, the Kearney, Missouri native, led the way for the Owls, totaling 14 points, as the senior went 3-of-8 from down town and went a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. DJ Johnson, was the second leading scored for WWU, netting 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while TaiRhe Turner chipped in 10 points on the night, as the guard went 5-of-6 from the field.
 
Defensively, the Owls came out strong in the second half, as LC were only able to hit 39 percent of its shots from the floor, while shooting 29 percent from beyond the arc, getting WWU back to its winning ways over Lyon College.
 
On the season, William Woods is averaging 64.8 points per game and shooting 43.3 percent as a team from the field, leading the way for the Owls is Johnson, who is averaging 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, as Ryan Hill is posting 10.1 points per game, shooting just under 50 percent from the field (48.9),  while Bitner adds 9.2 points per game,  as the senior is shooting 39 percent from the three point line.
 
Freed-Hardeman, in just its second season in the American Midwest Conference, is leading the way, as the Lions are sitting in the number one spot in conference with a 15-1 record and a 20-1 overall record on the season.
 
The Lions are currently on a eight game winning streak, as the team's last loss came back on January 6th in the hands of AMC foe, Williams Baptist College. In the eight game win streak for FHU, the team has amassed 668 points, while averaging 83.5 points per game.
 
Offensively on the season, the Lions have three players averaging  in double-figures,  as guard Cameron Lewis leads the way, posting 17.9 points per game, shooting 46 percent from the field and recording an impressive 12 game stretch of finishing in double figures, while Ben Meis and Evan Forhetz both are totaling 14 points per game and shooting over 40 percent from the floor.
 
In the last meeting between these two teams, the Owls fell 74-53, in a cold night of shooting inside Anderson Arena. However, WWU did hold the Lion's leading scorer, Cameron Lewis to just five points but didn't have an answer for Ben Meis, as the guard collected a game-high 25 points on 8-for-14 shooting and going an astounding 6-for-11 from downtown.
 
The Owls will look to snap the Lions eight game win streak and pull the upset of the year to grab the teams second straight AMC victory Saturday afternoon.
