Men's Soccer Falls 1-0 In Overtime Heart Breaker Against Central Methodist University

FAYETTE, Mo. - In a hard fought battle on Wednesday night, the William Woods University men's soccer team couldn't find the winning goal, as the team fell in overtime,1-0 in heart breaking fashion against Central Methodist University.

The Owls (2-2), displayed a strong 90:00 minutes of play to hold the aggressive Eagles (3-0-1) offensive scoreless, however, with neither team wanting to give an inch through the entire match-up, it was off to overtime in Fayette, Missouri.

It was a very physical game between both teams and in the first overtime, neither team let up giving the fans a show for night.

Despite the Owls valiant effort, Eagles Gareth James shot a rocket, to find the back of at the net and take the 1-0 win over WWU.

"Factors in the game did not go our way and very proud of the team's effort tonight," said head coach Nathan Mason. "I believe we stuck together and deserved more from the game, but we were positive in our play."

Mason added, "Central Methodist has a great team and this game tonight really helped us prepare for AMC play, that begins this weekend."

William Woods opens up its American Midwest Conference (AMC) part of its schedule on Saturday, as the team travels to Parkville, Missouri to take on Park University. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
