Volleyball Looks To Capture Third Consecutive Win On The Season Against Culver-Stockton University

Becker leads the team and is second in the AMC with 158 kills on the season
CANTON, Mo. - The William Woods University volleyball team gets back to action on Thursday night, as the team pays a visit to Culver-Stockton College. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m. 


The Owls (8-6; 1-0 AMC), are coming off a four set win (17-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22) against College of the Ozarks on Tuesday night, collecting its second straight win on the season. 


WWU recorded 54 kills in the match and were led by senior Lauren Rodewald, as the senior totaled a season-high 17 kills, with a career-high .500 attack percentage. Emily Becker added 13 kills and led the team with 24 digs, tallying another double-double for the Belleville, Illinois native, while Stephanie Davis chipped in 12 kills. Brittney Engelbrecht, who is the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Setter of the Week honoree, amassed a game-high 43 assist and also grabbed 11 digs. 


On the season, the Owls look to keep its offensive momentum going, as the team is first in the AMC with 657 kills and 584 assist. Out of those 657 kills as a team, Becker paces the way with 158 kills, while Davis has collected 130 and Rodewald has tallied 120 kills this year. Engelbrecht sits a top of the AMC in assists, as the sophomore has handed out 543 on the year. 


Becker, the Belleville, Illinois has grabbed four double-double performances on the year, while her 158 kills on the season and 3.1 kills per set average is good enough for second in the AMC She also is second on the team with 27 blocks. 


Davis, continues to play a key role for WWU, as the junior leads the team with an .284 attack percentage and 31 blocks. She also has amassed double figure kills in four of the Owls last five games, pushing her season total up to 130 on the year, which is fourth best in the AMC. 


Rodewald, the senior from O'Fallon, Missouri, has came on hot of lately, as the outside hitter has recorded 48 kills in the past four games for WWU. She is coming of a career-high .500 attack percentage in the Owls last outing. 


Culver-Stockton is coming off a 2014 season that saw at the team collect a 22-10 overall record and a 6-3 record in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC). Last season, when these two teams met up on September 2nd, its was the wildcats who captured the win in a thrilling five sets (25-17, 25-23, 16-25, 22-25, 12-15). 


Currently, CSC is 4-8 on the season and 1-1 in the HAAC, as Kamrin Gold leads the way with 144 kills, meanwhile India Green has handed out a team-high 438 assists and Abbie Foster paces the way defensively, leading the Wildcats with 205 digs.
