The Owls (14-6, 9-5 AMC), not only captured the season series sweep over CBC, the American Midwest Conference (AMC) new comers but collected its ninth conference win with four players ending in double figures on the day.
After having a slow start to its game earlier this week against No. 9 Lyon College, WWU came out strong right from tip-off, as the Owls jumped out to an early 12-1 lead over the Lady Mustangs, after
Nia Lateju went 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
WWU remained red hot from the floor, as its offense could not be slowed down and its defense stood tall. The Owls closed out the first frame holding CBC just eight points, while taking control of the first quarter with a 22-8 lead.
In the second quarter, the Owls held onto its double digit lead, while going on an 8-2 run, capped off by a two point basket from
Julia Wells. Shortly, after the 3:10 mark, WWU

Then with time winding down on the clock, freshman
Kendra Vaughan nailed a three pointer, giving the Owls the commanding 41-20 advantage at the half.
William Woods went 10-of-37 (37.1 percentage) from the field and an impressive 17-of-23 from free throw line, while CBC ended the first 20;00 minutes of play shooting just 21.9 percent from the field and were a feeble 2-of-14 from beyond the three point line.
It was more of the same story in the second half, as the William Woods came out in the third quarter, pushing its lead out to 49-25, after
Bailey Rollins drilled a three point basket off an assists from
April Gebke. The Lady Mustangs would go on a 6-0 run, as Deanna Adkins three pointer with 4:19 left in the third frame, put CBC down 49-30.
After going back and forth in the final 4:00 minutes of play, the score remained the same and after the conclusion of the third quarter, WWU headed into the fourth quarter with the 19 point lead (51-32) over CBC.
In the fourth quarter, WWU never looked back and preserved any chances that the Lady Mustangs had to cut into the Owls controlling lead, as the team was able to roll on through the final 10:00 minutes of play and earn the 17-point victory over Central Baptist College.
William Woods ended the day shooting 34.0 percent from the field, while Scherder, Lateju, Wells and
Kennedy Volkart all posted double-digits. Scherder paced the way with 14 points, tying her season-high, as the junior was 2-of-4 from downtown and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Lateju chipped in 13 points and five rebounds, making it her fourth straight game in double figures, while Wells and Volkart each added 10 points apiece, as Volkart also led the team with eight rebounds.
