MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The William Woods University Baseball team was looking for a three game sweep of Christian Brothers University on Saturday, however, the Owls bats cooled off and the Bucs pitching limited the Owls to only four hits in the contest and William Woods dropped the contest to Christian Brothers, 11-1.
 
Game Flow
The Bucs jumped over the Owls starter pitcher, Jesse Remington, in the second and third innings. In the second inning the Bucs scored two runs. The Bucs scored their first run on an RBI ground by Nick Traylor. They added the second on a Michael Halley single to left field. Christian Brothers added another run in the bottom of the third taking a 3-0 lead over WWU.
 
The Owls scored their only run in the top of the sixth inning. Larry Price drew a walked and proceeded to steal second base. Price advanced to third on a Priest single to left center. With runners on the corners, Jordan Dey hit a sacrifice fly scoring Price. With two outs, Priest advanced to second on a wild pitch and then stole third base. However, Priest was stranded at third.
 
Christian Brothers added three more in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Bucs took advantage of one Owls error and scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Bucs continued to add to their lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when they put up five runs and the Owls were defeated by the Bucs by the mercy rule, 11-1 in eight innings.
